The extensive grounds will give you plenty of room for exercise. Within five minute walk from the house is The Phoenix Inn in one direction or The Winchfield Inn in the other. There are also many other recommended local pubs and restaurants.

There are many enjoyable and attractive walks within the grounds, as well as the stunning bluebell woodland walk behind the 12th century Winchfield Church (mentioned in the Domesday Book). This can be combined with a spirited walk along the tranquil Basingstoke Canal from perhaps the Barley Mow pub or along to Odiham, North Warnborough or Odiham Castle originally built by King John as a hunting lodge in 1207!
